If I have a daughter
I'd blow dry her hair
I'd tell her stories in bed and kiss her on the forehead

If I have a daughter
I'd plant a Gingko Tree when she's born
I'd seal a bottle of wine and wait until the day she weds

If I have a daughter
I'd make her an album of her footprints
I'd save her tooth in a box with tooth fairy
I'd do her first haircut
And wrap her around with a blanket I knit

I'd share with her all my secrets
I'd introduce her to everyone who has loved me
I'd try out all the candies with her in a supermarket
I'd fall asleep with her underneath the shade of a big tree
I'd be her best friend
But I'll never dress her like a Barbie

I'll teach her everything I know
And I'll learn from her mistakes
I'll travel around with her in a train
I'll pick up pebbles in the stream and roll with her on river bed
I'll camp with her in Grand Canyon near Havasu fall
I'll ride her down with donkeys and not to let her fall
I'll witness aurora with her in Iceland
I'll snowboard downhill with her and build a snow man

I'll swim with her in an ocean with dolphins
I'll whisper to her my secret cinnamon apple pie recipe
I'll sing with her in the shower
I'll light every candle on her birthday cake
I'll kiss her when she's asleep
I'll kiss her when she's awake
I'll always be the shoulder for her
And when she tastes her first tear of love I will be there
I'll make her a necklace out of seashells
I'll let her do my hair cut out of trust
I'll dance with her the night before her prom
And I'll pass on all the love my mother embraced me with

I'll keep my heart pure in order to see this world through her eyes
I'll let her bloom into whatever she's born to be
I'll take photos so she remembers how her mother used to be
I'll let her laugh at my wrinkles
I'll let her pick my gray hair
I'll let her fly
I won't hold her too tight
I'll leave without regret
Knowing I've left all my love to enrich an angel's life ahead
